Fullstack Developer – Drone & Real‑Time Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Fullstack Developer to build responsive, real‑time user interfaces and backend services for a government‑funded drone research project at IIT Bombay. You will work on mission planning, telemetry, and video‑feed control, delivering robust, low‑latency solutions for multi‑user operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop responsive UI for mission planning, telemetry, and video control using React.js and Tailwind CSS.
• Build and maintain backend APIs with Node.js (Express/NestJS) or Python (FastAPI/Django) for mission data and drone communication.
• Implement WebSocket/MQTT interfaces for real‑time telemetry, alerts, and command signals.
• Collaborate with hardware and embedded teams to align command protocols, battery states, and telemetry formats.
• Optimize performance, ensure fault‑tolerance, and enable low‑latency streaming.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Jenkins), containerize applications with Docker, and deploy on AWS or GCP.
• Maintain authentication, authorization, and role‑based access controls for multi‑user environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years of full‑stack development experience, preferably with real‑time dashboards or IoT interfaces.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, networking, and asynchronous systems.
• Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary hardware/embedded teams.

Required skills

• Frontend: React.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Recharts/Chart.js, Mapbox or Leaflet.
• Real‑time: WebSockets, WebRTC, MQTT.
• Backend: Node.js (Express/NestJS), Python (FastAPI/Django), REST & WebSocket APIs.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB (schema design, indexing).
• Auth: JWT, session security, RBAC.
• DevOps: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker, AWS/GCP basics.
• Testing: Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, unit & integration testing frameworks.
