Frontend Software Engineer (React)

About the role

Plane is building an open, local‑first work management platform where the client runs in the browser, syncs offline and supports collaborative editing. As a Frontend Software Engineer you will shape the user‑facing surfaces that render both human and AI‑agent actions.

Key responsibilities

• Own user‑facing components from design review through implementation and rollout, including dense issue lists, collaborative editors and design‑system elements.
• Extend the local‑first sync and conflict‑resolution layer, handling serialization and UI behavior when state diverges.
• Ensure performance of virtualized views that may contain tens of thousands of items through profiling, memoization and render‑path optimisation.
• Implement offline support with Service Workers and IndexedDB for slow networks or completely isolated deployments.
• Collaborate daily with designers and backend engineers in San Francisco and Hyderabad, and review community pull‑requests.
• Investigate and fix visual or behavioural bugs across browsers, screen sizes and self‑hosted versions.

Required profile

• Shipped production React applications written in TypeScript and can point to a live example.
• Deep understanding of state management (MobX, Redux, Zustand or similar) and when to keep state local versus global.
• Experience writing intentional, responsive CSS with Tailwind or comparable systems.
• Worked inside a shared component library and understand its constraints.
