Front End Operator Cum Maintainer

About the role

The Front End Operator Cum Maintainer is a key member of the shift operation team responsible for maximizing OEE of front‑end equipment on the can‑making line. The role combines daily operation, preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of Cupper, Bodymaker and Trimmer machines, while supporting continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain front‑end equipment to achieve optimal speed, efficiency and quality specifications.
• Perform daily, periodic and predictive maintenance tasks, including inspections, tool changes, filter swaps and hydraulic oil management.
• Lead size changeovers, SMED‑driven coil changes and die‑set replacements, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Coordinate with engineering, toolroom and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues and execute corrective actions.
• Support TPM, 5S, lean‑manufacturing, Six Sigma and ISO audit activities, and track KPI performance.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Toolroom Technology or equivalent ITI trade.
• 6–10 years of maintenance/repair experience in a high‑speed, high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and occasional extended hours.
• Computer literacy for report generation and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of health‑and‑safety practices.

Required skills

• Mechanical and hydraulic press maintenance.

• Toolroom coordination and periodic tooling replacement.
