Founding Designer

About the role

We’re building the future of storytelling and video editing. Cardboard is a fast‑moving small team backed by YC and Tier‑1 investors, obsessed with design taste and solving hard problems in video creation.

Key responsibilities

• Own product design end‑to‑end, including flows, UI, prototypes and micro‑interactions.
• Advocate for the user in every meeting, acting like a product manager.
• Collaborate closely with founders, engineering and growth teams.
• Build and maintain a cohesive design system.
• Create experiences that people love.

Required profile

• You have strong visual taste and care about details.
• You own projects from concept to delivery.
• You think like a product manager, spotting unnecessary clicks and ambiguous labels.
• You are AI‑pilled and constantly exploring new tools such as Rive, Spline, Paper, Reve, Claude design.
• You are a Figma expert who loves crafting micro‑interactions.
• You have experience building (or feeling the pain of missing) a design system.
• You can find and direct illustrators, motion designers or freelancers when needed.
• Bonus: you have coded or shipped a side project.
