Founding AI Data Engineer (Bangalore)

About the role

Optexity is building clinical reasoning models on proprietary data that no other lab can access. As a Founding AI Data Engineer you will work directly with real clinical data, shape model direction, and help bring research breakthroughs to product reality.

Key responsibilities

• Work with proprietary clinical data from hospital and clinic partners to surface insights that guide model and product direction.
• Build clinical reasoning models that improve physician and clinic workflows.
• Design and publish benchmarks exposing gaps in current LLMs on real clinical reasoning tasks.
• Evaluate computer‑use models on real‑world tasks.
• Own the end‑to‑end training and evaluation pipeline.
• Take open‑ended problems from question to working model with minimal predefined structure.
• Write technical reports and papers documenting findings.

Required profile

• Hands‑on research experience with the ability to define problems, not just execute known solutions.
• Experience training models (beyond fine‑tuning APIs) and fluency in Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Thrives on open‑ended problems and ambiguity.
• Motivated to publish research rather than only ship products.
• Self‑starter who takes ownership without needing direction.
• Prefers a fast‑moving startup environment over big‑tech.
