Food Server / Captain – Shakespeare Sarani Café

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Food Server/Captain to join our new city‑based café, The Calcuttawala Café, located on Shakespeare Sarani in Kolkata. The role is full‑time and on‑site, focused on delivering the heritage‑driven hospitality standards of The Rajbari Bawali.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests, present menus and take orders accurately.
• Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely service of food and beverages.
• Oversee table setups, manage reservations and seating arrangements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area.
• Handle guest queries, resolve concerns promptly and uphold high customer satisfaction.
• Supervise junior service staff and support special events or banquets.
• Follow all hygiene, safety and quality protocols.

Required profile

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Hands‑on experience in food & beverage service operations.
• Basic cooking knowledge to guide guests on menus and ingredients.
• Previous hospitality experience, preferably in fine‑dining, heritage resorts or boutique hotels.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Attention to detail, professional grooming and a courteous, guest‑focused attitude.
• Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Relevant hospitality or hotel management training or certification is a plus.
