Fire Safety Officer

About the role

The Fire Safety Officer ensures fire safety compliance across commercial facilities, maintaining fire protection systems, conducting inspections and drills, and responding to emergencies to protect life and property.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain operational readiness of fire alarm, hydrant, sprinkler, PA, smoke management, and fire pump systems.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly inspections of fire safety equipment and monitor pump rooms, diesel levels and fire water tanks.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance with OEMs and vendors, and supervise third‑party testing of firefighting equipment.
• Conduct fire safety audits, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with local fire regulations, the National Building Code and client standards.
• Prepare and update fire safety records, checklists, logbooks and compliance documents.
• Organise fire drills, emergency evacuation drills and training for fire wardens, security guards and occupants.
• Inspect hot‑work activities, enforce Permit‑to‑Work compliance and investigate fire incidents.
• Liaise with the local fire department during emergencies and statutory inspections.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Fire & Safety Engineering or Fire Technology.
• Fire safety certification from a recognised institute.
• 2–5 years of experience in commercial buildings, IT parks, malls, hospitals or industrial facilities.
• Experience in facility‑management firms (e.g., JLL, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield) is preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA, NBC and relevant IS standards.
