Financial Reporting Trainer / Subject Matter Expert (SME)

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Financial Reporting Trainer / Subject Matter Expert to lead knowledge transition and capability development within BASF’s Finance team in India. The role will manage process handovers, create training material and deliver classroom, virtual and on‑the‑job sessions to build sustainable expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Act as primary contact for process transition, coordinating hand‑over activities with sending locations.
• Design and deliver structured training programmes (classroom, virtual, on‑the‑job) covering financial reporting and SAP processes.
• Develop and maintain documentation, job aids, process maps and conduct post‑training support.
• Collaborate with global and local stakeholders to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and standardisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CA/CMA advantageous.
• 8‑10 years of experience in financial reporting, record‑to‑report, accounting or shared‑services environments.
• Strong expertise in period‑end close, reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis and financial controls.
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with SAP ERP (ECC and/or S/4HANA).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with reporting tools and creating user guides.
