Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will join Deloitte's Tax practice, ensuring the integrity of financial data, supporting statutory compliance, and providing actionable insights to drive business decisions. This role combines rigorous accounting oversight with strategic analysis to support the firm’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain General Ledger accuracy, perform variance analysis, and resolve mis‑postings.
• Drive month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and balance‑sheet schedules.
• Prepare monthly MIS packs with variance analysis and deliver insights to management.
• Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Ind AS/GAAP, GST, TDS and coordinate statutory, tax, and internal audits.
• Manage group consolidation, inter‑company eliminations, and preparation of consolidated financial statements.
• Monitor vendor advances, ageing, and working‑capital metrics, highlighting risk areas.
• Strengthen internal controls, SOP adherence, and lead process‑improvement and automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Ownership mindset and ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including business units, auditors, and tax teams.
• Experience in a shared‑services or Big 4 environment is preferred.
• Good communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Ind AS / IFRS accounting standards
• SAP (preferably S/4 HANA) or similar ERP systems
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
• Power BI or other automation/visualisation tools (nice to have)
