Finance Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Controller to lead the financial operations of a university in Mumbai. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will act as a strategic partner, ensuring the institution’s financial health and compliance with statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee cost control, financial reporting, audits and strategic planning.
• Ensure accuracy of financial statements and adherence to VAT, GST, TDS, Income Tax and other statutory requirements.
• Drive process improvements and maintain robust financial controls.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and support decision‑making across the university.
• Lead ERP implementation and integration projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CA or equivalent qualification preferred.
• 8–10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in educational institutions or large organisations.
• Proven track record in financial reporting, audit management, taxation and compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP ERP and Tally.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and experience with financial reporting tools.
• In‑depth knowledge of VAT, GST, TDS and Income Tax regulations.
