Field Service Engineer

About the role

Flanders is seeking a hands‑on Field Service Engineer to support and maintain the ARDVARC Autonomous Drill System (ADS) across multiple Australian mining sites. You will act as the technical liaison between on‑site drill controllers, maintenance teams and our specialist network, ensuring high‑visibility, reliable operation of autonomous equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert on‑site support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ADS hardware and software.
• Manage software updates, backups, and maintain accurate shift logs and records.
• Coach and up‑skill site maintenance crews on best‑practice use of the ARDVARC system.
• Participate in Activity Status Report (ASR) meetings to drive performance improvements.
• Deliver after‑hours breakdown support as part of a 24/7 coverage model.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for the fleet.

Required profile

• Australian‑recognised Engineering degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Field Service Engineer.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Willingness to work an 8/6 FIFO roster with on‑call duties.
• Customer‑focused attitude with excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Experience with Studio5000 (highly regarded).
• Auto‑electronic and electromechanical process knowledge.
• Computer and network literacy for moderate to complex software issues.
