Facility Security Officer

About the role

The Facility Security Officer will oversee physical security operations supporting the U.S. Department of Energy Technology Control Program at Bechtel’s Chennai site. The role safeguards export‑controlled nuclear technology, technical information and other sensitive assets through access control, visitor management, CCTV monitoring and incident response.

Key responsibilities

• Administer physical security requirements and enforce the Technology Control Plan across controlled areas.
• Control access to export‑controlled nuclear technology and sensitive information by verifying authorisations.
• Manage daily security operations, including personnel accountability, end‑of‑day checks and compliance with DOE regulations.
• Administer electronic access control systems, issue badges, maintain access records and conduct periodic audits.
• Coordinate visitor access, verify approvals, provide security briefings and maintain visitor logs.
• Monitor CCTV, alarm and intrusion detection systems, preserve surveillance evidence and identify vulnerabilities.
• Respond to security incidents, prepare incident reports and support investigations.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or citizen of a General Authorized Destination under 10 CFR Part 810.
• Minimum five years of physical security experience, including badge program administration and visitor control.
• Experience supporting DOE regulations and Technology Control Programs.

Required skills

• Proficiency with enterprise access control platforms such as Lenel or CCURE.
• Experience monitoring and reviewing CCTV and intrusion detection systems.
• Ability to conduct security investigations and prepare professional incident reports.
