Facilities Services Assistant III – 2nd Shift

About the role

The Facilities Services Assistant III works the 2nd shift (2:00‑10:30 PM, Monday‑Friday) performing skilled custodial, grounds, and building maintenance tasks. This full‑time position includes a shift differential and benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize offices, classrooms, labs, hallways, and restrooms, including vacuuming, trash removal, dusting, glass cleaning, floor washing, stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet care.
• Handle chemicals safely, distinguishing between disinfectants for toilets and sanitizers for food‑prep areas.
• Operate automatic floor‑scrubbing machines and high‑speed floor‑buffing equipment as part of a floor‑maintenance program.
• Perform grounds work such as snow plowing, shoveling, salting, sweeping doorways, mowing lawns, and keeping exterior areas orderly.
• Maintain and operate hand tools, power tools, lawn mowers, snow‑removal equipment, and other service equipment following safety guidelines.
• Conduct routine building maintenance: replace light bulbs, perform minor electrical, plumbing, and general repairs, paint, and fulfill work requests.
• Drive college vehicles/trucks, including shuttle bus duties, and assist with furniture moves and supply deliveries.
• Support the Facilities Services Supervisor with inventory control, storage organization, and ordering of cleaning supplies.
• Assume supervisory duties in the supervisor’s absence and help oversee safety, security, and building alarm procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to work the designated 2nd‑shift schedule and perform physical custodial and maintenance tasks.
• Experience operating floor‑care machines, hand/power tools, and outdoor equipment.
• Knowledge of proper chemical usage and safety protocols.
• Valid driver’s license for operating college vehicles.
• Willingness to assume supervisory responsibilities when needed.
