Engineer - Safety & Reliability

About the role

Eaton is seeking a Safety & Reliability Engineer to join its Aerospace business in Pune, India. The role focuses on delivering reliability, maintainability and safety (RMS) work packages for new product introductions and sustaining engineering projects within the Fluid Motion Controls product line.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver RMS work packages across multiple NPI and sustaining projects without impacting schedules.
• Influence product design to mitigate reliability and safety risks while optimizing performance.
• Plan, execute, and review reliability life testing using internal labs and external agencies.
• Create and revise RMS deliverables such as FHA/SFHA, PSSA/SSA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, maintainability analysis, testability plans, BIT analysis, HALT, and RDT.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional and global reliability teams to embed reliability into product development.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate reliability and safety risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering (required).
• Master’s degree in Reliability Engineering (preferred) with 0‑1 year experience in aerospace RAMS, or a Bachelor’s degree with 3‑4 years aerospace RAMS experience.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards such as NPRD‑95, FMD‑97, MIL‑HDBK‑217F, MIL‑STD‑1629, SAE ARP 4761, SAE ARP 4754, FAR 25.981, FAR 25.863, AC 25.981‑1C, AC 25.981‑2A.

Required skills

• Reliability statistics and failure rate analysis.
• Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA).
• 8‑D problem‑solving methodology and FRACAS data handling.
• Experience with reliability/safety analysis tools such as RAM Commander, ReliaSoft, or Sherlock.
• Ability to develop and maintain actuarial model libraries for aerospace components.
