Energy Regulatory Attorney – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations. This remote contract position supports a leading global energy company in compliance, regulatory filings, and policy development.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
• Draft and file regulatory documents, petitions, and motions for energy-related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed regulations, tariffs, and rate cases to identify legal risks and devise strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, stakeholders, and industry groups.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and brief leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, preferably with energy regulatory experience.
• Proven experience in energy law, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.

Required skills

• Expertise in federal and state energy regulations.
• Experience preparing and filing regulatory documents and petitions.
• Ability to conduct legal risk analysis of tariffs and rate cases.
• Effective representation in regulatory meetings and proceedings.
