Emergency Medical Services Driver

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position in Chennai involves driving an ambulance to transport patients, medical staff and equipment safely between hospitals and emergency locations, while supporting medical personnel during each trip.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the ambulance safely, following established routes and emergency protocols.
• Transport patients, staff and medical equipment between healthcare facilities or emergency sites.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform basic checks and ensure readiness for each shift.
• Secure all medical supplies and equipment inside the vehicle before departure.
• Respond promptly to dispatch instructions and document trip details as required.
• Assist medical personnel with loading and unloading patients, including stretcher handling.
• Adhere to traffic, safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Interact respectfully with patients, families and hospital staff to maintain a calm environment.

Required profile

• Strong defensive driving skills with experience operating ambulances or similar emergency vehicles.
• Knowledge of emergency services procedures and basic response protocols.
• Clear, professional communication abilities for coordination with dispatch, medical teams and patients.
• Excellent customer‑service mindset to ensure respectful, empathetic interactions.
• Valid commercial or professional driving licence and a clean driving record.
• Prior experience in healthcare transport, EMS or hospital support services is an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to assist with patient transfers, including lifting and maneuvering stretchers safely.
