Electrical Engineer – HVDC Substation Design

About the role

Responsible for the design, engineering, and execution support of HVDC substation systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and engineering of HVDC substation systems, including converter stations and associated AC/DC equipment.
• Prepare and review single line diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Engineer HVDC equipment such as converters, transformers, smoothing reactors, filters, and switchgear.
• Develop equipment layouts, grounding systems, and cable routing for HVDC substations.
• Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, and cross‑functional teams for design integration.
• Review and approve vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical specifications.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and client specifications.
• Prepare technical reports, bills of quantities, and related documentation.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of experience in HVDC technology (LCC/VSC) and substation design (AIS/GIS).
• Strong knowledge of protection and control systems for HVDC substations.
• Understanding of harmonic filters, reactive power compensation, and insulation coordination.
• Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and PSCAD.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
