Duty Engineer

About the role

The Duty Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance and energy conservation of all mechanical and electrical plant within the hotel. The role involves planning preventive maintenance, handling engineering requests, and delivering monthly work plans for approval.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor preventive maintenance programmes for all engineering utilities, aiming for zero defects.
• Report to the Chief Engineer on operational efficiency, environmental controls and compliance with statutory regulations and fire codes.
• Coordinate equipment data sheets, spare parts requisitions and manage capital project planning in line with budgetary guidelines.
• Conduct regular inspections of building systems, ensure accurate recording of maintenance activities and oversee external contractors to guarantee technical and cost efficiency.
• Implement energy‑conservation initiatives and track energy usage to support the hotel’s profitability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hotel engineering or similar facilities management environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical plant operations, preventive maintenance standards and statutory compliance.
• Ability to prepare detailed work plans, manage capital projects and supervise external service contracts.
• Excellent analytical skills to monitor equipment performance and energy consumption.
