Drainage & Hydrology Engineer

About the role

ASSYSTEM is seeking a Drainage / Hydrology Engineer to deliver end‑to‑end drainage design solutions for urban, industrial, highway, airport, seaport and railway projects. The role involves planning, modelling and optimizing stormwater systems from catchment analysis through to detailed design and construction documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Independently plan, model and optimise stormwater systems, including catchment analysis, concept design and detailed GFC deliverables.
• Produce high‑quality coordinated drawings (plans, sections, cross‑sections, GA details) adhering to strict QA/QC standards.
• Prepare technical reports, BOQs, cost estimates and tender documentation ensuring accuracy and constructability.
• Review client and contractor submissions, resolve design conflicts and drive timely approvals.
• Mentor junior team members and coordinate interdisciplinary inputs to minimise design changes during construction.

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Hydrology, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• 1‑5 years of proven experience delivering drainage design for complex infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver code‑compliant designs (CWC, Indian and international standards) for culverts, bridges, river training works and flood protection systems.
• Strong experience in technical reporting, cost estimation and tender documentation.

Required skills

• Hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools: SWMM, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SewerCAD/StormCAD, Civil 3D, QGIS, TUFLOW, MIKE, HY‑8.
• Rainfall‑runoff estimation and flood modelling methods (SCS, CWC UGH, Rational Method).
• Design of stormwater infrastructure, flood protection systems and rainwater harvesting networks.
