About the role

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS Pilani) seeks a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering to provide academic leadership in teaching, research, and mentorship. This full‑time, on‑site position is based at the BITS Pilani campus in Bhubaneswar and offers the opportunity to shape the future of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver advanced CSE courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Supervise student projects, theses, and doctoral research.
• Lead high‑impact research initiatives and publish in top‑tier venues.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental strategy.
• Mentor junior faculty and researchers, and participate in academic governance.
• Engage in professional service, including committee work, outreach, and industry collaborations.

Required profile

• Extensive expertise in core CSE domains such as algorithms, systems, artificial intelligence, or data science.
• Proven record of scholarly publications and successful supervision of postgraduate research.
• Strong teaching experience with a history of curriculum innovation.
• Experience in academic leadership and collaborative governance.
• Ability to secure and lead funded research projects and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Recognition through awards, fellowships, or professional society memberships is desirable.
