Director of Software Engineering – Java & AWS

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned software engineering leader to drive technology strategy and delivery within our Equities or Securities Lending business. As Director of Software Engineering, you will own a technical area, influence cross‑functional teams, and champion AI‑enabled development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technology and process implementations to meet functional objectives.
• Make decisions on resources, budget, and tactical operations for multiple projects.
• Govern coding standards, control obligations, and metrics such as cost of ownership and maintainability.
• Deliver reusable technical solutions across business domains.
• Influence senior stakeholders and peer leaders on product and technology strategy.
• Set direction for AI‑orchestrated SDLC/TLM automation, ensuring security, resiliency, and traceability.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 10+ years of hands‑on experience.
• 5+ years leading technologists and managing complex technical initiatives.
• Proven experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talent.
• Track record as an engineering lead for a product line.
• Experience driving adoption of agentic AI‑enabled engineering practices.
