Director of Quality (QA Strategy & Test Automation)

About the role

The Director of Quality will own the quality discipline across all Baxter Planning products, embedding automated testing directly into the software development lifecycle. This senior leader will drive AI‑assisted testing, build automated regression coverage, and reduce the legacy defect backlog to enable fast, confident releases.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the quality strategy and automated test architecture for legacy Java 8/SOAP/4GL systems and modern AI agents, data platforms, and analytics.
• Build and scale automated regression suites, prioritising risk and customer impact.
• Evaluate, adopt, and integrate AI‑driven testing tools such as test generation, self‑healing suites, mutation testing, visual/UI regression, and production‑anomaly detection.
• Establish quality gates in CI/CD pipelines and partner with Development, DevOps, and Security leaders to embed automated checks.
• Drive triage and systematic reduction of the legacy defect backlog.
• Own quality metrics (defect escape rate, coverage, MTTR, regression health) and report them to engineering leadership.
• Champion a quality‑first culture, ensuring quality is a shared responsibility across engineering teams.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in QA strategy, test automation, and quality engineering.
• Track record of modernising legacy systems and implementing AI‑assisted testing at scale.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, architecture, and DevOps teams.
• Experience in a SaaS environment, preferably within supply‑chain or enterprise planning domains.

Required skills

• Java (Java 8) and SOAP services.
• 4GL programming knowledge.

• Test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Production anomaly detection techniques.
