Director of Engineering

About the role

As the Director of Engineering at Truecaller you will lead a department, set technical direction and partner with product to balance rapid feature delivery with sustainable architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership, defining architecture, guiding teams and shifting focus from pure feature shipping to business‑outcome driven development.
• Oversee the full engineering lifecycle – from project inception, resource planning, development, testing to deployment – while ensuring code quality, scalability and maintainability.
• Champion compliance, risk management and data‑security processes, working with legal and security teams to meet regulatory standards.
• Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging exploration of new technologies and continuous learning across the department.

Required profile

• Proven engineering leader with a track record of delivering large‑scale product‑led solutions.
• Experience influencing product strategy through technical feasibility and innovation.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, architectures and best practices.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and ability to inspire high‑performing teams.
