Desktop Application Developer – R&D Member of Technical Staff II

About the role

AVEVA is looking for a Desktop Application Developer to join its Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) R&D team. You will work on enhancing AVEVA's ALM solution, collaborating with cross‑functional product groups and leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to deliver high‑quality software.

Key responsibilities

• Research and propose product enhancements for the ALM suite.
• Participate in design and code review sessions, providing constructive feedback.
• Implement approved enhancements, track progress against estimates, and flag technical issues.
• Assist fellow developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Produce development documentation and promotional material for new features.
• Provide third‑level support for customers using released products.
• Perform technical analysis within projects and prepare detailed task breakdowns and estimates.
• Ensure security considerations are addressed during development and report any design or security inconsistencies.
• Merge code changes into the configuration management system while maintaining code integrity.
• Utilise AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to boost productivity, reviewing all AI‑generated output for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Select appropriate AI models or agents for tasks such as code generation, test scaffolding, documentation drafting, and code‑review assistance.

Required profile

• A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

Required skills

• Experience with AI‑assisted coding tools, specifically GitHub Copilot.
