Design Lead – Substation Renewables (Civil & Structural)

About the role

As Design Lead (Civil / Structural) you will review and execute civil and structural engineering activities for Solar PV Power Plants, AIS substations and Pooling Substations (PSS). You will guide BIM 3D modelers, coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, MEP and other disciplines, and support the full project lifecycle from pre‑bid engineering to commissioning and O&M, including site‑team assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engineering drawings and documents on schedule and within budget.
• Review designs, sizing calculations and vendor deliverables, obtaining client approvals.
• Estimate man‑hour requirements, plan resources and submit BOQ to contracts team.
• Coordinate inter‑departmental checks with Electrical, Instrumentation, MEP and other teams.
• Provide technical support and clarifications to the site execution team.
• Validate vendor technical specifications, inspect equipment and forward validation documents to supply‑chain.
• Collect project inputs (soil reports, topography, GA drawings) from clients and vendors.
• Prepare civil and structural design deliverables such as module mounting structures, control room, inverter room, foundations, roads, drainage and steel structures.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8–14 years of experience in design of Solar PV power plants or power distribution projects.
• Exposure to projects in the Middle East or Central Asia is a plus.
• Familiarity with Indian, American and European codes.

Required skills

• Software: STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE, Adobe Professional.
• Technical: Substation switchyard gantry towers, equipment steel structures, pre‑engineered steel buildings, sub‑foundations for precast buildings, STATCOM, solar plant civil works, pile foundations, HVDC, GIS (gas‑insulated substation) civil design.
• BIM 3D modelling coordination.
