Design Lead – Electrical Solar (Solar PV)

About the role

The Design Lead – Electrical Solar will head the electrical design activities for Solar PV power plants, overseeing generation estimates, plant layout, single‑line diagrams, equipment selection and BIM 3‑D modelling. Reporting to the Section Head – Solar, the role coordinates with civil, structural, instrumentation and MEP teams to deliver high‑quality engineering deliverables from pre‑bid through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engineering drawings and documents on schedule, ensuring alignment with the overall project timeline.
• Review and approve design calculations, single‑line diagrams, cable sizing, earthing and lightning protection layouts.
• Validate vendor technical submissions, BOQ items and provide technical clarifications to the contracts and supply‑chain teams.
• Coordinate inter‑disciplinary checks with civil, structural, mechanical and instrumentation departments.
• Support the site execution team with design clarifications, equipment inspections and commissioning assistance.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in design of Solar PV power plants or power distribution projects.
• Strong knowledge of national and international codes and standards applicable to solar installations.
• Proven ability to lead a team of design engineers and draughtspersons, managing budgets and quality.

Required skills

• Solar PV power plant electrical design (generation estimate, plant layout, AC/DC SLD).
• Inverter sizing, module selection, SMB, earthing and lightning protection design.
• Cable sizing calculations and routing layout.
• BIM 3‑D modelling for solar projects.
• Vendor technical evaluation and BOQ review.
