Design Engineer – Series Platform (Automotive Connectors)

About the role

The role involves leading the design and development of automotive connector series platforms for Bosch. The engineer will create parametric models, manufacturing and offer drawings, and ensure compliance with customer and OEM specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and guide design and development of automotive connectors.
• Create independent parametric models and manufacturing drawings.
• Perform requirement analysis, focus matrix and concept reviews.
• Prepare and review development, manufacturing and offer drawings.
• Implement engineering change requests and perform tolerance stack‑up and functional proof of connector assemblies.
• Conduct design calculations, benchmarking, specification comparison and validation activities.
• Produce technical customer documentation and maintain material master and BOM in SAP.

Required profile

• BE in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in connector or automotive design.
• Proficiency in English; German is a plus.
• Strong background in automotive or aerospace sectors.

Required skills

• UG NX and Teamcenter CAD tools.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up.
• Understanding of thermoplastics, elastomers, metals and plating materials.
• Experience with molding, stamping, plating and assembly processes.
• Plastic and sheet‑metal design concepts.
• Connector test specifications and OEM requirements.
• Airgap and creepage calculations (CAD or Creo).
• Theoretical design calculations.
• Creation of material master and BOM in SAP.
• DRBFM, focus matrix and FMEA methodologies.
• Project management tools such as MS Project and MS Office.
