Design Engineer – Electrical & Hydraulics (Upgrade, Modification & Remanufacturing)

About the role

Normet is seeking a Design Engineer with strong expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems for mining, tunnelling and construction equipment. You will own the full lifecycle of upgrades, modifications and remanufacturing projects, from concept through commissioning on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies for machine upgrades and modifications.
• Prepare and modify electrical schematics (Zuken E3, Inventor preferred), wiring diagrams and bills of materials.
• Install, wire and test components such as alternators, starters, ECUs, sensors, lighting systems and control panels.
• Develop panel layouts, routing diagrams and cable schedules.
• Select and specify electrical components including motors, VFD/Servo drives, PLCs, HMIs, relays, contactors and safety devices.
• Create technical documentation, SOPs, commissioning checklists and spare‑part illustrations.
• Maintain interface between product data management tools and update documentation for remanufactured equipment.
• Prepare project plans that balance quality, cost and delivery objectives.

Required profile

• 4‑5 years of experience in electrical/hydraulic design for construction or mining machinery.
• Hands‑on experience with disassembly, assembly, troubleshooting and testing of mobile equipment.
• Ability to work closely with service centre and plant heads and communicate technical information clearly.

Required skills

• Electrical schematic design using Zuken E3 and/or Inventor.
• Creation of wiring diagrams, BOMs and engineering change documentation.
• Selection of motors, VFD/Servo drives, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, contactors and safety devices.
• Panel layout design, routing diagrams and cable schedule preparation.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting of electrical faults and commissioning of equipment.
