Design Engineer – BIW Fixture Design

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer specialized in Body‑in‑White (BIW) fixture design for an automotive manufacturing client. The role involves creating 2D and 3D welding fixture concepts that meet customer requirements and automotive standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop BIW welding fixture designs in 2D and 3D, from concept to finished layout.
• Create detailed 3D models and concept layouts using CATIA V5, NX, or Fides.
• Prepare feasibility studies and design concepts for fixtures.
• Coordinate closely with design, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Validate that all designs comply with automotive standards and GD&T principles.

Required profile

• Associate‑level professional with 1.5 to 7 years of experience in automotive or BIW manufacturing.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Experience in BIW fixture 2D/3D and concept design.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5, NX, and Fides.
• Knowledge of welding fixtures, tooling, clamps, locators, and automotive manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up.
