Deputy Manager – Operations & Maintenance

About the role

The Deputy Manager – Operations & Maintenance will oversee the performance of plant systems including boiler, turbine, generator, balance‑of‑plant (BOP), switchyard and transformer areas. The role ensures optimal operation, manages start‑up and shut‑down procedures, and drives energy‑conservation and environmental‑compliance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and operate boiler, turbine, generator, BOP and electrical systems to maintain optimal performance.
• Execute start‑up and shut‑down sequences for plant equipment as required.
• Respond to plant emergencies involving BTG (Boiler‑Turbine‑Generator) and switchyard/grid issues.
• Perform and monitor Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations and maintain related logbooks.
• Promote energy‑conservation measures focusing on specific oil consumption, auxiliary power consumption, demineralised water usage and heat rate.
• Ensure compliance with environmental parameters and chemical monitoring.
• Implement IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines and adhere to Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) systems.
• Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through training and protocol enforcement.

Required skills

• Operation and monitoring of boiler, turbine and generator equipment.
• Experience with Balance‑of‑Plant (BOP) and switchyard electrical systems.
• Knowledge of Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) processes.
• Familiarity with energy‑conservation metrics and environmental compliance.
• Understanding of Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) procedures and safety guidelines.
