Deputy Lead BIM Modeler – Highways & Site Civils

About the role
AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team is seeking a Deputy Modeler to Lead Modeler – BIM for highways and site civils. The role involves creating high‑quality 3D BIM models for road and utility projects and supporting multidisciplinary coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models for roads, highways, roundabouts, earthworks, drainage and utilities.
- Create and manage alignments, profiles, surfaces, corridors, templates/assemblies, superelevation, grading and cross‑sections.
- Model stormwater, sewer, ducts, electrical, telecoms and other utility networks.
- Maintain BIM models in line with project BIM standards, BEP and ISO 19650 requirements.
- Perform multidisciplinary model federation and BIM coordination across all disciplines.
- Conduct 3D clash detection using Navisworks or equivalent, identify conflicts and support resolution.
- Extract 3D solids from Civil 3D/ORD models for quantity verification and downstream applications.
- Produce plans, profiles, sections, details, schedules and other model‑based deliverables.
- Manage model health checks, QA/QC, revisions, naming conventions and information exchange via CDE platforms.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related infrastructure discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in roads, highways, utilities or civil‑infrastructure BIM modelling.
- Strong understanding of Civil 3D modelling and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and survey data.
- Proven track record of delivering accurate, coordinated models to project standards.
- Excellent problem‑solving, QA/QC and independent work capabilities.

- Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- AutoCAD / MicroStation
- 3D BIM modelling
- Clash detection & model coordination (Navisworks)
- 3D solid extraction
- ProjectWise / Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Dynamo, Python, VBA (desirable)
- Knowledge of BIM/CDE workflows and ISO 19650
