Deputy General Manager – Legal Contracts

About the role

Paytm, India's leading mobile payments and financial services company, is seeking a Deputy General Manager – Legal Contracts to support business growth across verticals. The role focuses on corporate advisory, contract management, and risk mitigation, working closely with business, finance, product, and compliance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, red-line, negotiate, and finalize commercial documents such as contracts, letters, and proposals while ensuring risk mitigation and legal protection.
• Address and resolve contractual issues with internal stakeholders, partners, service providers, and vendors.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (compliance, product, finance, business) to deliver special projects on time.
• Analyze business requirements, identify legal/commercial issues, and propose practical solutions.
• Ensure strict adherence to internal legal frameworks, mandates, policies, and processes.
• Provide end‑to‑end legal ownership and management of assigned business transactions.
• Offer general corporate advisory support and assess legal viability of proposed business models.

Required profile

• LL.B. from a recognized university (preferably National Law Schools, DU, ILS, Symbiosis).
• 7+ years of end‑to‑end contract management experience, including mandatory experience in a law firm.
• Strong legal expertise combined with interpersonal skills to coordinate complex issues across diverse stakeholder groups.
• High attention to detail with strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver outcomes efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
