Deli Assistant

About the role

The Deli Assistant is responsible for preparing high‑quality hot and cold deli products while ensuring that customer satisfaction remains the top priority. You will work in a fast‑paced retail environment, supporting the Centra brand values and delivering a friendly, efficient service to shoppers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders across all fresh‑food areas, including sandwiches, rolls, hot dishes, and sliced meats using portion‑control measures.
• Cook, prepare, and display deli items throughout the day, maintaining high standards of presentation.
• Keep all fresh‑food counters clean, well‑stocked, and visually appealing at all times.
• Share product knowledge, recipes, and personal recommendations to inspire customers.
• Handle customer queries promptly and professionally in line with store policy.
• Uphold Centra’s brand values: Proud, Energetic, Imaginative, and Community‑Based.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills.
• Previous customer‑service experience is an advantage.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong multitasking skills and ability to perform under pressure.
• A genuine passion for food and the ability to inspire shoppers.

Required skills

• HACCP training (desirable but not mandatory).
