Data Specialist – Financial Data & M&A Research

About the role

Moody's is seeking a Data Specialist to research, document, and maintain Mergers and Acquisitions data within its Analytics subscription database. The role focuses on ensuring data accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across a defined geographical region.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, summarize, and update M&A information, capturing deal type, payment methods, values, participants, sources, dates, and statuses.
• Maintain and enrich the historical M&A database using internal software platforms.
• Monitor real‑time news feeds, conduct primary internet research, and prioritize relevant articles.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase speed and accuracy of data delivery.
• Research regional regulations and emerging data sources to expand the product offering.
• Create and update internal documentation, procedures, and definitions to ensure standardisation across teams.
• Maintain productivity standards through efficient time‑keeping and adherence to research workflows.
• Participate in peer‑to‑peer checking to uphold data integrity.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in financial data research, investment data, or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of M&A concepts, deal structures, and transaction terminology.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to multi‑task and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Experience managing structured databases via internal software platforms.
• Basic understanding of artificial‑intelligence concepts and curiosity about AI tools.
