Data Scientist – NLP & Generative AI

About the role

Deloitte India is seeking a Data Scientist to lead the design and implementation of cutting‑edge Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions. You will work within a multidisciplinary technology team to turn large volumes of textual data into actionable insights that drive business value.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy state‑of‑the‑art NLP models for tasks such as text classification, entity extraction, and document summarisation.
• Preprocess and clean textual data, performing feature engineering using word embeddings, n‑grams and syntactic features.
• Evaluate model performance with appropriate metrics, conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure robustness across datasets.
• Collaborate with software engineers and product managers to integrate NLP components into production systems and optimise performance.
• Stay current with the latest research in NLP and Generative AI, applying innovative methods to real‑world problems and contributing to publications.
• Analyse model outputs, visualise findings and communicate insights to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Document methodologies, results and recommendations in clear reports.

Required profile

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proven ability to work on complex, unstructured data.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences.
