Data Scientist – Data Visualisation

About the role

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join Mastercard’s Economics Institute, reporting to the team lead for Data Systems Engineering. The role involves creating clear, compelling data visualisations, developing reusable functions, formatting analytical content, and writing well-documented code.

Key responsibilities

• Create clear, compelling data visualisations that communicate economic insights to diverse audiences.
• Develop reusable functions and packages to support analysis and automation.
• Create and format analytical content using R Markdown and/or Quarto.
• Write clear, well-documented code that others can understand and maintain.

Required profile

• Passionate about using data visualisations to tell stories.
• 1–3 years experience in creating data visualisations.
• Proficient in R or Python.
• Proficient in using code to clean, transform, and aggregate data.
• Familiar with version control concepts and tools for collaborative development.
• Experience writing SQL and working with relational databases.
• Creative and passionate about data, coding, and technology.
• Strong collaborator who can work independently, prioritize across multiple projects, and work effectively with engineers, product owners, and economists.
