Data Engineering Manager, CMT

About the role

Amazon’s Competitive Monitoring Team (CMT) is building a best‑in‑class data platform that powers pricing decisions worldwide. As a Data Engineering Manager you will lead a group of Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers to design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines, semantic layers, and analytics tools that drive continuous improvement for Amazon’s pricing systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver robust, scalable data solutions supporting CMT’s data infrastructure.
• Lead data governance, quality standards, and best‑practice adoption (code reviews, testing, monitoring, documentation).
• Implement GenAI solutions for automated reporting, diagnostics, and predictive analytics.
• Own technical delivery of ETL/big‑data pipelines, semantic layers, and dashboard data models.
• Collaborate with product managers, BI teams, and stakeholders to prioritize work aligned with business goals.
• Mentor, coach, and develop team members to foster growth and career progression.

Required profile

• 8+ years of data engineering experience.
• Proven experience managing data or BI teams and influencing strategy.
• Strong analytical, results‑oriented, and customer‑focused mindset.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision.

Required skills

• Data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipeline development.
• SQL proficiency.
• Programming in Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
• Big‑data technologies: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
• AWS services: Redshift, S3, EC2.
• Experience with GenAI or automated analytics solutions.
