Data Engineer – Master Data Management

About the role

This role is responsible for engineering Master Data Management (MDM) data within Alcon’s AWS data lake. The Data Engineer will design, build, and optimise scalable pipelines that ingest, cleanse, transform and provision trusted Customer Master and Product Information Management data.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines for MDM data (Customer Master and PIM) in the AWS data lake.
• Adopt AWS data lake services to implement end‑to‑end MDM solutions across ingestion, integration, curation and consumption.
• Develop pipelines using Python, PySpark and Spark SQL, integrating heterogeneous source systems.
• Collaborate with data‑governance teams to support data quality, matching, survivorship and lifecycle management.
• Automate, optimise and migrate existing MDM solutions and perform data modelling, analysis and insight generation.
• Participate in agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming, sprint planning and effort estimation.
• Manage master data within MDM platforms like Reltio and configure PIM solutions such as Stibo.
• Utilise data cataloguing and metadata tools to document, classify and improve discoverability of enterprise data assets.

Required profile

• B.Tech / B.E / M.Tech / MCA or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field.
• 6‑10 years of experience in big‑data / data‑lake solutions on AWS.
• 3+ years of hands‑on development with Spark using Python, Scala or Java.
• Proven experience building data pipelines with automated testing and quality checks.
• Experience working in agile teams using Jira and Confluence.
