Damper SME – Chassis Systems (Adaptive Suspension)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Damper Subject Matter Expert to lead the design, development and integration of adaptive damper hardware into a semi‑active suspension system. The role involves close interaction with customers, suppliers and internal cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performance chassis solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead adaptive damper component design from concept through to production.
• Define damper specifications aligned with vehicle ride, handling, NVH and durability targets.
• Own and deliver APQP deliverables for hardware engineering.
• Coordinate suspension design, vehicle dynamics, electronics and software teams.
• Manage change requests, cost forecasts and supplier activities to meet programme milestones.
• Plan and oversee client and supplier rig test programs, support test teams and resolve issues.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Identify and implement process, component or design improvements.

Required profile

• 6‑10 years of experience in automotive damper design and development.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of passive and adaptive damper technologies and their impact on vehicle dynamics.
• Proven ability to negotiate technical solutions within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
