Custodian (Full‑time)

About the role

The Custodian supports Mount Holyoke College’s Facilities Management mission by ensuring that classrooms, residence halls, and other campus buildings remain clean, safe, and welcoming. This full‑time, second‑shift position works Monday through Friday from 4 pm to 12:30 am, with occasional weekends, holidays, and on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning tasks in assigned campus buildings, including sweeping, vacuuming, and floor washing.
• Empty waste receptacles and manage recycling.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, sinks, countertops, mirrors, showers, and high‑touch surfaces.
• Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Report building safety concerns and maintenance needs.
• Participate in snow‑removal assignments and other seasonal duties.
• Follow a detailed cleaning program and adapt to a least‑disruptive work approach.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb unassisted and perform prolonged standing, bending, and climbing.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on‑call assignments.
• Reliability, attention to detail, and good communication with supervisors.
