Credit Controller – Chinese Language Expert

About the role

Elsevier is seeking a bilingual Credit Controller who can assess and advise on the creditworthiness of Chinese‑speaking customers. The role combines traditional credit control duties with the need to communicate fluently in written and spoken Chinese, supporting both new and existing accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and approve credit applications for corporate and individual Chinese customers within established guidelines.
• Liaise with customers and internal teams to resolve credit issues and negotiate payment terms on overdue accounts.
• Provide routine credit assessments and maintain accurate records of credit decisions.
• Support the sales organisation in debt‑collection activities where possible.
• Communicate with clients via phone and email to deliver regular credit‑related support.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in credit control or accounts receivable.
• Strong proficiency in Chinese (written and verbal).
• Result‑driven, able to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to preserve customer relationships.
• Effective multitasking with a focus on key priorities.
