Cost Estimation Manager (AESL)

About the role

The Cost Estimation Manager will lead the preparation and review of cost estimates for high‑voltage transmission projects, including substations, transmission lines, transformers and reactors. Working closely with the Centre of Excellence, engineering and project teams, the role ensures accurate costing to support bidding, procurement and business development activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with technical teams to gather Bill of Quantities and project specifications for 132‑kV to 765‑kV transmission assets.
• Prepare and review detailed cost estimates for AIS/GIS substations, transmission lines, EHV transformers, reactors, towers and conductors.
• Develop and maintain standard cost templates and processes, and continuously improve estimation accuracy.
• Float EPC enquiries at bid stage, manage technical discussions with internal stakeholders, and support business development with cost proposals.
• Perform price variation calculations for steel, conductors, ICT/SRs and other substation equipment using IEEMA guidelines.
• Provide market intelligence, support merger‑and‑acquisition techno‑commercial assessments, and explore efficiency improvements.
• Review estimated costs against actual procurement values to gauge accuracy.
• Mentor junior team members, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and identify training needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, Operations or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in cost estimation, purchasing or commodity management for transmission projects.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage stakeholder communication.
