Controls Assurance – AVP

About the role

The Controls Assurance AVP will lead design assessment and operating effectiveness testing of controls, ensuring they meet Barclays' policies, procedures and quality standards. This role safeguards the bank’s integrity, compliance and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute design assessments and effectiveness testing of controls in line with testing plans.
• Collaborate with business partners to document control assessments, procedures and findings.
• Identify and investigate control weaknesses, recommend improvements and prioritize remediation.
• Develop and present reports on risk assessments, control gaps and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience in risk management, controls assurance or internal audit.
• Understanding of SOX, internal audit practices and regulatory frameworks such as COSO and Basel IV.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) compliance.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Data‑analytics capabilities applied to control testing.
