Container Dispatch Specialist

About the role

The Container Dispatch Specialist is responsible for planning, routing and tracking daily container movements to ensure efficient and timely delivery. Working within a fast‑paced environment, the specialist coordinates with contract drivers, terminal staff and customers to meet service level agreements and maintain high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and track container movements, selecting the most efficient routing each day.
• Communicate daily with customers, contract drivers, terminal personnel and internal service representatives to resolve issues.
• Coordinate pick‑ups and deliveries with contract drivers, partner carriers, rail and port operators.
• Dispatch work orders for trucks, rail and barges according to timelines and update stakeholders on any delays.
• Maintain accurate records, audit documentation and track container activity in relevant systems.
• Authorize equipment drops, monitor container idling and manage additional costs.
• Develop and sustain positive relationships with customers, terminal operators and truck vendors.
• Process all assigned documentation promptly and support team members as needed.
