Consultant Respiratory Physician (Full‑time)

About the role

The NHS Borders team is seeking a Consultant Respiratory Physician to join its modern 284‑bed district general hospital. The role involves delivering high‑quality respiratory inpatient and outpatient care, with the possibility of supporting general medicine on call.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑level respiratory medicine services for in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Review and act on 3‑10 daily inpatient referrals within 24 hours.
• Participate in on‑call rotas, including General Internal Medicine on a 1:16 basis if required.
• Collaborate with accredited respiratory consultants and locum colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• MRCP (or equivalent) and full registration on the Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine.
• Eligibility to obtain a CCT within six months of interview, if not already held.
