Composite Tooling Engineer

About the role

The Composite Tooling Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing tooling used in the production of composite material components. The role combines mechanical design, finite‑element analysis and close collaboration with manufacturing teams and external vendors to ensure tools meet performance, weight and thermal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design tooling for the manufacture of composite‑material products, including platforms and auxiliary fixtures.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses using finite‑element software such as Hypermesh and ANSYS.
• Select appropriate materials, optimise weight and consider thermal aspects in tool design.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to understand production requirements and integrate tooling solutions.
• Coordinate with tooling vendors and manufacturers, evaluate designs, follow up on approvals and support tool and component prove‑out activities.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of composite materials and their manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design.
• Experience with structural and thermal analysis using FE tools (e.g., Hypermesh, ANSYS).
• Ability to work closely with manufacturing personnel and external suppliers.
