Composite Technician I – Aerospace Structures

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Technician I – Composites to join our Structures (N-CCAV) team. You will fabricate high‑performance composite components for aerospace and space‑system structures, working closely with structural engineers to ensure strict quality and mission‑assurance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hand lay‑up, vacuum bagging, cure setup, and post‑cure trimming/sanding of carbon‑fiber, fiberglass, and core‑reinforced assemblies.
• Prepare mold surfaces, apply release agents, and handle core materials and plies according to engineering specifications.
• Operate autoclaves, ovens, heat blankets, CNC trim/router equipment, and precision measuring tools during lay‑up and curing phases.
• Execute structural bonding, drilling, countersinking, and mechanical fastening of composite structures and metallic fittings.
• Conduct dimensional checks, visual inspections, and assist quality teams with NDT preparation and defect tracking.
• Maintain manufacturing routers, bill of materials tracking, and quality‑assurance logs throughout the build cycle.

Required profile

• GED or technical trade certificate in Aerospace, Composites, or Manufacturing Technology.
• 4–5 years of direct experience in aerospace or high‑precision composite manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of composite material behavior, cure cycles, and core materials.
• Proven ability to read 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, ply books, and GD&T specifications.

Required skills

• Precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Interpretation of GD&T and 3D CAD models.
