About the role
The Commis supports the culinary team at JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru by preparing ingredients, cooking under supervision, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in a high‑volume hotel kitchen.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh and measure ingredients for cooking.
- Cook and assemble dishes according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers and other kitchen equipment safely.
- Monitor food quality, test doneness, and ensure correct temperatures.
- Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, tools and equipment.
- Follow all safety, security and hygiene policies, reporting any issues to the manager.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No specific license or certification required.
Required skills
- Food preparation and portioning.
- Operation of kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, etc.).
- Food safety, hygiene and temperature monitoring.
