Commis II Chef

About the role

The Minimalist is seeking a motivated Commis II Chef to support daily kitchen operations, food preparation and service. This entry‑level position works closely with senior chefs to maintain high standards of quality, hygiene and consistency.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with daily mise‑en‑place and food preparation according to kitchen requirements.
• Follow standard recipes, portion sizes and presentation guidelines.
• Prepare and cook food under the direction of senior chefs.
• Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portion and presentation.
• Ensure freshness, proper storage and rotation of all ingredients, applying FIFO/FEFO practices.
• Uphold food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards, including FSSAI/HACCP procedures.
• Support opening and closing kitchen procedures, stock taking and inventory control.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service teams and assist other sections during busy periods.
• Maintain punctuality, professional grooming and a respectful, team‑oriented environment.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in a professional kitchen (preferred).
• Culinary or hospitality qualification (preferred).
• Positive attitude, discipline and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Basic cooking techniques.
• Knife skills.
• Food safety knowledge (FSSAI/HACCP).
