Commercial Counsel – Legal & Compliance

About the role

Booking Holdings’ Bangalore Center of Excellence is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join its Legal & Compliance team. The role will provide end‑to‑end legal support for commercial agreements, ensure compliance with Indian and international regulations, and help drive process efficiencies across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, NDAs and other commercial arrangements, with minimal supervision.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and contractual risks while aligning with business objectives.
• Ensure contracts comply with applicable Indian laws, regulations and relevant international requirements.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel to resolve complex legal matters.
• Draft and respond to legal notices from regulatory authorities and monitor changes in Indian legislation.
• Provide legal and regulatory advice to business units on operational matters.
• Support senior counsel with lease deeds, employment contracts and other legal documents as needed.
• Assist in delivering legal and compliance training for new joiners.

Required profile

• Qualified law degree and admission to practice in India.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong understanding of Indian commercial, corporate and data‑privacy laws.
• Ability to work independently and manage matters from initiation to completion.
• Experience in technology, travel or consumer‑goods sectors is a plus.
